Even guys with normal-sized penises are genuinely interested in titles like this: "What, is this really possible? Well, I don't really need it that much, but still. . . "Is it worth saying that men suffering from penile dysmorphophobia (excessive concern with the size and shape of the penis, which has no particular basis) consider all such articles as a gift from God, and immediately fix their eyes on the text?
And they say that only women create problems for themselves out of thin air! According to statistics, the average (erect penis length) is 5. 16 inches (13. 11 cm). Almost 90% of men's sizes fall squarely within the normal range - 4-6 inches (10, 16-15, 24 cm).
In a survey of 52, 031 heterosexual men and women, researchers reported that 85% of women said they were satisfied with their partner's penis size, but only 55% of men were satisfied with their penis size.
Seth Cohen, MD, a urologist at NYU Langone Medical Center in New York City, often sees patients who express concerns about their size and are interested in penis enlargement. "What I want to ask them most is, are they sure that this is what their partners really want? Or did you invent it yourself? We tend to overthink our partners' desires for them. But in reality it turns out that they don't care. They just want sex, " Seth says.
Are you determined and not convinced by our arguments? Next, we present a list of the most popular penis enlargement procedures.
Surgical lengthening
During the procedure, the patient's suspensory ligament, which attaches the penis to the pubic bone, is cut. Thus, the length of the penis increases visually. "Imagine a suspension bridge with its columns cut off – this is how it works. But I actually don't recommend that you resort to this action. Your erect penis will never be the same, " warns Seth.
Surgical thickening
Some doctors recommend a procedure in which the patient's own fat or a substance similar to Alloderm is injected into the penis. This is sterilized tissue collected from the donor's skin. It is wrapped under the skin of the penis (like wrapping sushi in seaweed), thereby increasing the circumference of the organ.
By the way, Alloderm was not originally designed for such manipulations. This material is used to treat burns and reconstructive surgery, not to enlarge the male genitalia. Complications such as infection and skin necrosis are reported in the medical literature.
Injections
In order to increase the thickness of the penis, some doctors give their patients injections similar to those used to enlarge the lips, lift the eyebrows and correct the smile line. "I have not performed such a procedure before, but I have seen it several times. It all depends on the substance used for injection. Restylane and Juvederm have been tested several times. It is used as a filler for the face, chin and other parts of the body. They usually keep their effect for six months. These materials have not been tested as well on the penis. We just don't have the data, and we can't say what the long-term outcome will be, " explains Cohen.
"The penis is a vascular system full of smooth muscle. You might end up with something lumpy, bumpy and patchy - not what you expected at all, " warns Seth.
Implants
Permanent implants inserted under the skin have been available for decades. They were previously used to treat patients with intractable erectile dysfunction. But in 2004, the Food and Drug Administration approved a silicone sleeve called Penuma for cosmetic penis enlargement. It costs $13, 000. A study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine examined 400 men who were given the opportunity to try Penuma implants. What did the subjects get? The average indicator is as follows: the thickness of the penis increased by 56. 7%. Quite a good result. And after two years, 81% of men reported "great" or "very" satisfaction with their new sex life.
Nevertheless, the number of urologists who would approve such a procedure can be counted on one hand. "Penis implants are intended for men with erectile dysfunction who are unresponsive to more conservative treatments, " says Landon Trost, MD, a urologist at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Landon also warns that such operations are very risky. There is a high probability of complications. "The vast majority of sexual medicine specialists do not recommend the use of fillers or Penuma for such purposes, " cautions Trost.
Extension cables
The extender is attached to the penis (not erect). You have to walk him for a long time - usually several hours a day. This can really help, but you will have to wait several months for results. "Almost everything in our body can be stretched, including our penis. "People have been doing this for hundreds, if not thousands, of years, " says Trost, who also created a device called RestoreX.
Almost all men who participated in the study with RestoreX received positive results. "As the circumference of the penis increases, everything is more complicated. There are no known treatments that show real results without injections or surgery, " says Trost.
Jelqing
There is a lot of information on the Internet about jelqing and special stretching exercises - during their implementation, the flaccid penis is stretched and massaged with fingers or a special device. But the result obtained is not permanent, and such manipulations involve considerable risk. "I have had many patients come to me after jelqing and they can hardly hold back their tears. Common consequences include penile numbness, ruptured or strained arteries and veins, and erectile dysfunction, " warns Cohen. An impressive list, isn't it? Cohen also adds that some of jelqing's "side effects" are simply irreversible.
Pumps
Vacuum pumps work like a pump - they cause blood to enter the penis. But the resulting effect is short-term.
37 men participated in the study published in the BJU International journal. Vacuum pumps were used three times a week for 20 minutes for six months. What results were achieved? Not impressive at all - the length of the penis increases slightly, and the subjects themselves were not too happy with the experiment.
Trost doesn't even recommend using pumps to treat erectile dysfunction, as it can only make the problem worse. "We need to find out if erectile dysfunction is a consequence of young men trying to increase the girth of their penis with these devices. When it comes to treating ED. . . Patients try several times and then put the device on the shelf, " he says.
Tablets
Don't believe everything you see on the internet. No matter how enticing the advertisement is, no matter how happy the men and their girlfriends look at the shiny banners advertising any product, use common sense. No miracle drug can make the penis bigger - this is what science claims. "There are no supplements that increase the size of the penis, " says Cohen.
Weight loss
A very simple way to visually increase the size of the penis. This is especially true for overweight men - the fat in the pubic area can rise above the penis, visually making it smaller. Due to the particularly serious cases, the term "buried penis syndrome" even appeared.
Being overweight can seriously complicate your life. Talk to your doctor about whether losing weight, changing your diet, and increasing your exercise can help you solve your sexual problems. The above methods often have a really positive effect and help to cope with the problem of erectile dysfunction.
Hair removal
The easiest way to visually increase the size of the penis is an intimate haircut. If you cut the hair at the base of the penis, its length will visually increase. The point is to be careful. The market is full of a wide variety of razors - protective covers and accessories help you achieve better results and avoid cuts in this extremely sensitive area.
Penile dysmorphophobia
This industry is constantly evolving. Thanks in large part to porn and pop culture, men are literally obsessed. They have unrealistic expectations of what a penis should look like.
Psychologists call it "small penis anxiety" or "penile dysmorphic disorder (PDD)" - an irrational, unshakable belief that the size of the penis is unsatisfactory. "That's what sticks in our minds. You watch porn and all the actors have such massive penises. But do not forget that they often use various tricks and achieve an erection artificially. Don't believe everything you see on the screen, " concludes Cohen.
So what do we get? Let me paraphrase a well-known saying: "A bird in your hand is better than going to the urologist with tears in your eyes. ""
